The most important thing we do at Grace & Peace is our gathering together in the unique presence of God to renew our relationship with God and with one another. In fact, we find that being at peace with God brings peace with ourselves, our families, our church, and our community. Everything else we do flows out from this center in God’s love. Members of Grace & Peace serve individually and voluntarily in many ways; to educating children in the faith, to caring for and praying for our friends and coworkers. We do all these things based on God’s love for us and God’s call to love our neighbors. Our deacons serve the congregation and community by wisely applying the gifts and talents of our members where they can meet needs. For information on specific ministries, see below:

Men’s Breakfast

All men are welcome to attend our men’s Bible Study and pray for each other every Saturday, 7:30-9:30AM, at Grace & Peace. Breakfast and coffee are served.

Women’s Bible Study

The women of Grace & Peace regularly meet together for study, prayer and fellowship. A daytime study group (childcare provided) and a monthly prayer evening are hosted in the homes of congregants, and social gatherings are organized throughout the year. The schedule for the study can be found at this link. To request the password, or for other questions about the women’s fellowship, please email [email protected].

Catechism for All

After Sunday school and before the evening worship service, Elder Seth Huckabee is available to catechize children and adults on the Catechism for Children and the Westminster Shorter Catechism. Please let him know as you are ready each Sunday. When a child completes the memorization of the answers to the 154 questions, his or her name will be submitted to New Horizons to be published in an upcoming issue so that the entire denomination can celebrate their success.

Soup Kitchen

Congregation members regularly bring food donations to the local soup kitchen.

Thanksgiving Baskets

During the Thanksgiving season, congregation members prepare baskets of canned goods to distribute to the St. Mary’s County community.

Operation Christmas Child

Annually, we participate in Operation Christmas Child, an initiative of Samaritan’s Purse, to fill shoe boxes with toys and other goodies to send to children around the world.

Snack Service for the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship at St. Mary’s College

Congregation members sometimes supply snacks for large group meetings.

Music Ministry

Grace & Peace is home to two youth choirs, which are comprised of children from different churches in Southern Maryland. Both groups are designed to teach the next generation how to worship God through song. Each year they develop a repertoire of songs and hymns which they perform periodically at nursing centers, special services, and concerts. The children also learn how to read music and develop their voices.
